Antifa Supports Abortion. So Do Racists.
In the 1920’s, violent gangs roamed Italy’s streets. Known as fascists, they wore black outfits and used chemicals to attack those they disagreed with. If you’ve been following the news, you’ll know that in America, black clad rioters are once again beating people and using chemicals on their opponents. Are these modern day fascists? Not according to them–they say they’re anti-fascists.
Self-style anti-fascist or “Antifa” groups have a long list of enemies, and it includes the pro-life movement. Antifa Philadelphia boasts of targeting “Neo-Nazis, Ku Klux Klan, Anti-migrant and Anti-Choice groups and individuals, as well as other bigots and fascists.” It’s strange that pro-lifers would be grouped in with neo-Nazis and the KKK. After all, whereas the former seek to curtail abortion, many racists have a different goal.
They want to see more of it.
Tom Metzger does. The neo-Nazi and former Klan leader describes abortion as “non-white population control,” instructing followers to “invest in ghetto abortion clinics” and “raise money for free abortions.”
You can find similar attitudes among ethno-nationalists. Richard Spencer rejects the idea that everyone has a right to life, with his Radix Journal warning of “the pro-life temptation” and deriding abortion opponents as “dysgenic” and “cuckservatives.”
That isn’t really surprising when you consider how minority children face a disproportionate chance of getting aborted. And at America’s largest abortion chain, they’ll accept donations to keep it that way: in 2008, the group Live Action caught Planned Parenthood representatives accepting cash from people who said they wanted fewer black kids.
Of course, this wasn’t the first time someone from Planned Parenthood was willing to work with racists. Its founder spoke of the need for “race betterment,” and she described speaking at a Klan rally on page 366 of her autobiography. Even today, Planned Parenthood opposes legislation against race and sex-selective abortions.
Not that black children are the only ones targeted: earlier this year, a feminist writer advocated abortion as a way to “fight white supremacy”:
If you claim to be progressive, and yet willingly birth white children by your own choice, you are a hypocrite. White women should be encouraged to abort their white children, and to use their freed-up time and resources to assist women of color who have no other choice but to raise their children.
If Antifa really wants to stop racist violence, here’s a suggestion: join Republicans in trying to redirect Planned Parenthood’s funding to federally qualified health centers (FQHCs). FQHCs are more accessible and offer a greater range of services than Planned Parenthood does.
While they’re at it, Antifa could also publicize the fact there’s currently a shortage of adoptable infants and that hopeful couples aren’t hard to find. Doing so would provide hope and options to a lot of people. However, I wouldn’t hold my breath. Because when it comes to abortion, Nazis and Antifa are on the same side.
