Trump and Sessions – A Rational View from Newt Gingrich

Posted: July 26, 2017 at 10:20 am   /   by

On July 25, former Speaker Newt Gingrich had a 1-on-1 meeting with President Trump.

The topic was Atty General Jeff Sessions and the public flogging he has suffered from the President’s Twitter account.

In this Fox News interview, Newt shows sympathy for the president’s frustration, but apparently he urged the president not to attempt to fire Jeff Sessions.

Sessions has profound problems with the corrupt Obama-appointed officials who still infest the DOJ, despite Sessions’ firing of 46 Obama-appointed US attorneys last March. Who knows how deep the corruption extends?

In fact, had both Sessions and the president foreseen the kind of Russia campaign-influence hysteria that the Democrats and their servile media would push, Sessions probably wouldn’t have taken the job, and Trump wouldn’t have offered it.

Instead Trump would have chosen someone completely unconnected with his campaign. But under the circumstances (way to go, Democrats!) Session’s decision to recuse himself was regrettably necessary from both an ethical and legal perspective, as experienced prosecutor Rudy Giuliani has said.

In fact, Sessions gives every indication of being the first ethical Atty General in many years. That’s certainly a welcome change from his predecessors, Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch, both profoundly corrupt with (just for example) Fast and Furious for Holder and Lynch’s clandestine meeting with Bill Clinton while his wife was under investigation.

Not mentioned by Gingrich is this: Who would want the DOJ position or any cabinet position under President Trump if this is how he handles one of his earliest and strongest supporters? Granted, neither of them foresaw the treachery of the Left-wing media and their Democrat cabal, but that can be chalked up as a mutual error. The vile Leftist media would like nothing better than succeed at creating still more chaos within the Trump administration.

Just how bad does all this have to get before the mainstream media finally begins practicing legitimate journalism again?  Sadly, the mainstream media’s talking heads are now little more than Left-wing propagandists with bylines. And it looks likely to stay that way. A pox on them.
