Memo to GOP: Reset the National Dialog with an Emergency Address to the Nation
Based on an idea now circulating* among the Free Media, we need an immediate and dramatic shift in the national dialog. The GOP can and should do a service for the country by funding a national prime-time TV address to educate and alert citizens on the looming collapse of the nation’s economy.
One of three possible speakers — Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, or Ted Cruz — should make that address. It should be crafted, rehearsed, and perfected to steer the national dialog away from current distractions and toward the tsunami of debt about to overtake all of us — all of us.
Ryan, Rubio, and Cruz have the youth, charisma, passion, and eloquence needed to deliver the facts and the message in terms so plain and clear that everyone will finally pay attention. Ryan, in particular, has the depth of knowledge and the presentation skills needed — we’ve seen those skills in action, not so much during the campaign as before it. But any one of these three could do it.
So what’s the urgency?
Wittingly or unwittingly, well-intended or not, Washington’s politicians have constructed a social welfare system so stupifyingly expensive that quite literally all the money in the world could not fund it in coming years. We’re borrowing or printing over 4 billion dollars per day right now trying to keep everything afloat, and it’s getting worse faster and faster as 10,000 baby boomers retire every day. It cannot go on. And what cannot go on will not go on.
So we’re facing a national emergency. We’re all in the same sinking boat, and with the election over, it no longer matters whose end of the boat is leaking. We have to start plugging those leaks and bailing out our ship of state, or we’ll all go down together.
If our politicians of both parties do not face this issue head-on, we will soon see in American streets what we now see in European streets. There will follow, inevitably, shortages, chaos, rationing, martial law, and wholesale loss of freedoms in exchange for “security” and “law and order.” It’s happened before, it most certainly can happen here, and it will not end well.
So how about it, GOP? Do us all a solid, will you? Open your wallets. Ask for free air time. Ask for donations if you need to. Find a way. But get it done. Just make sure you a pick a messenger who really believes in his or her message, like a Ryan, Rubio, or Cruz.
There’s not much time left, and most Americans are still dozing. Tick-tock, tick-tock.
