Sidwell Friends school serves Japanese food on Pearl Harbor Day

From WUSA9:

What are President Obama’s kids eating at school on Pearl Harbor day? Japanese food, of course!

Sidwell Friends School’s website shows the menu for Wednesday December 7th, 2011, the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day, as an Asian food day.

The menu:

Asian Mushroom Soup
Oriental Noodle Salad
Classic Spinach Salad
Teriyaki Marinated Chicken Strips
Szechuan Tofu & Veggies
Garlic Roasted Edamame
Vegetable Fried Rice
Fortune Cookies

I recently had some sumo rolls at a Japanese restaurant that were absolutely stunning. My wife LOVES sushi, and I always find some delicious menu items to enjoy. Japanese food = yum.

I am not sure, however, that if I were a school, I would pick today as the day to serve it. Not a huge deal, just a little weird.
